Whangarei Film Society Inc. is an independent not-for-profit film society and we proudly claim to be "the largest littlest film society in the land"!
WFS screens a varied programme of high quality films at Forum North each year between February and November. These include international festival releases, award winning documentaries, dramas, avant-garde and historic films.
We have an annual subscription of over 500 members, and as a volunteer organisation, we are well supported by our local community with audience numbers often over 100 people attending our film sessions.
Whangarei Film Society: 2025 Season
This year, our film season will run from 27 February (AGM and first film night) until Thursday 13 November (final film night and social event). 2025 is our twenty-second season of celebrating film nights.
ABOUT US: We screen weekly film nights, Thursdays @ 6pm and 8pm, late February – November. This year there will be some changes with screening dates due to Forum North venues not being available, during May and June.
We are located within Forum North, 7 Rust Avenue, Whangarei. Films are screened in the Capitaine Bougainville Theatre.
COVID-19: While restrictions have eased, mask wearing and being socially distanced is still a welcome practise when attending our film nights. Please show courtesy to others and their health needs.

‘Film Club’ at Forum North is the spot where film lovers gather for a drink and to meet friends before Thursday screenings between late February and November.
All residents and visitors to Whangarei are welcome at screenings. Cash & door sales only.
Tickets for each film are just $10 for members. Non-members pay an additional $5 as an Associate Membership fee, per film session.
Tickets are sold at the door and cash is required (there is an ATM nearby at the ANZ or BNZ on the corner of Bank St and Rust Avenue).

If you wish to become a member, you will need to fill out a membership form (name & contact etc details) and pay your $30 fee to the Secretary on the Membership desk.
