Welcome to Our World of Cinema!

Whangarei Film Society Inc. screens a varied programme of high quality films. These include international festival releases, award winning documentaries, dramas, avant-garde and historic films.

We are an independent not-for-profit film society, and proudly claim to be "the largest littlest film society in the land"! We have an annual subscription - over 500 members - and as a volunteer organisation we are well supported by our local community with audience numbers often over 100 people for our film sessions.

RE: COVID-19 & ALERT 2 situation … we are still in hiatus while the committee awaits further clarification of how we can operate under Level 2 from Forum North and the Ministry of Health.

Under the revised LEVEL 2 conditions, we are allowed an audience of 100 people in the Forum North venues, as well as our patrons observing physical distance of 1.5 metres, and have a rigorous contact tracing system.

At this time, we are also not allowed to serve drinks or food. Once we have clarification of these requirements, we will update this site and send out an email.

We consider your health, safety and wellbeing to be our foremost consideration.
We greatly enjoy the sense of community and social nature of our film nights, in bringing people together to watch and enjoy films that transport us to so many places.
We are missing you and look forward to continuing our 2020 film season at a later date, so we can once again enjoy your company. We will keep you updated via email and by posting onto our website.
Thank you for your support of the measures we are taking.
Noho ora mai, keep well
