Whangarei Film Society Inc. screens a varied programme of high quality films. These include international festival releases, award winning documentaries, dramas, avant-garde and historic films.
We are an independent not-for-profit film society, and proudly claim to be "the largest littlest film society in the land"! We have an annual subscription - over 500 members - and as a volunteer organisation we are well supported by our local community with audience numbers often over 100 people for our film sessions.
RE: COVID-19 & ALERT 2 situation … sadly, we are suspending our film nights until further notice.
With the government announcement of an Alert system being implemented to meet the COVID-19 Coronavirus challenge (Saturday 21 March), and the earlier directive of limiting indoor events to under 100 people and observing a physical distance of 1.5 metres, we have taken the ‘big picture’ position to postpone our film nights until further notice.
We have made this decision for the health, safety and wellbeing of our members, our volunteer team, our committee and all attendees.
We greatly enjoy the sense of community and social nature of our film nights, in bringing people together to watch and enjoy films that transport us to so many places. We will miss this, as we know you will. We encourage you to post comments onto our Whangarei Film Society’s facebook page to keep in contact and continue that sense of community.
We look forward to continuing our 2020 film season at a later date, so we can once again enjoy your company. We will keep you updated via email and by posting onto our website.
Thank you for your support of the measures we are taking.
Noho ora mai, keep well
