The largest littlest film society in the land!

Whangarei Film Society Inc. is an independent not-for-profit film society. We screen a varied program of high quality films each week at Forum North between February and November.

2026 is our twenty-third consecutive season of hosting film nights!

Screenings typically take place on a Thursday at 6pm and 8pm.

Tickets for each film are $10 for members or $15 for non-members.

Tickets are sold at the door and cash is required.

After 40 years of teaching in the metropolitan jungle of Rome, school teacher Michele moves to an idyllic village in the heart of the Abruzzo National Park to teach at a tiny primary school with just a handful of students.

It’s far more simple and rustic life but Michael gradually adapts, thanks to the friendly townsfolk  and the school’s spirited pupils.

But then the school gets notification that it’s failed to meet its student enrolment quota for the coming year and will be forced to close.

So begins a race against time for the town to save the school and its students whatever it takes…
