Father James (Brendan Gleeson) is a good priest, faced with some sinister and troubling circumstances brought about by a mysterious member of his parish. He continues to comfort his fragile daughter (Kelly Reilly), and reaches out to help members of his church with various moral problems, but feels sinister forces closing in. He wonders if he will have the courage to face his own personal calvary.
