Finding Vivian Maier

28th May, 8pm // 4th June, 6pm

Synopsis

Vivian Maier’s collection of photographic negatives was discovered by John Maloof in 2007 while compiling a history of a Chicago neighbourhood.  Maier’s striking monochrome images were shot on a twin-lens Rolleiflex in the 1950s and 1960s. They are mostly street shots taken in Chicago and New York. Maloof worked tirelessly to sort through the detritus of an unnoticed life –  and 150,000 photographs –  to bring a remarkable artist to the attention of the world.
