DOCUMENTARY:

Please note –  this film will start at the later time of 8.15pm on Thursday 13 May due to the longer running time of the 6pm film (Another Round).

An elderly woman (Hatidze Muratova) utilises ancient beekeeping traditions to cultivate honey in the mountains of North Macedonia. She’s the last in a long line of wild beekeepers, eking out a living farming honey to sell in the closest city, some four hours walk away. Her peaceful existence is thrown when a neighbouring family tries to do the same, becoming a source of tension as they disregard her wisdom and advice.

Honeyland presents a tender portrait of the delicate balance between humankind and nature, and a glimpse into a way of life that is fast disappearing. And of one extraordinary woman’s resiliance.
