Synopsis

In 1900, Maria Montessori was early in her teaching career. But even then, her approach was viewed as unorthodox and her methods faced an archaic, male-dominated profession which failed to appreciate her brilliance.

But with the arrival of Lili d’Alengy, a glamorous French actress, things would change. She begs Maria to care for her own special-needs child. But Maria has her own challenges, raising a child out of wedlock.

But these women from different worlds form a bond and it serves to inspire Maria to create and codify an entirely new vision and approach for the profession of teaching.

“Uplifting and deeply moving, this is an exquisitely crafted film and a stunning tribute to an inspirational and compassionate human being.” Italian Film Festival
