Barnaby and Sallie are the adult children of Julian Sklar, a once famous artist who has all but given up on his work and life.
Knowing their father is ill, Barnaby and Sallie hit upon a plan to hire an art forger, Lori to be Julian’s assistant.
Lori’s mission will be to secretly complete a series of Julian’s long-unfinished paintings, referred to as “The Christophers,” that he began in the 1990s, during the peak of his popularity.
If Lori can complete the paintings in Julian’s “style”, Barnaby and Sallie can then pass them off as originals and sell them for huge money after he dies.
Of course, that’s assuming that Julian doesn’t find out…
