DRAMA | THRILLER:
Dimitri “Dima” Vladimirovich Krasnov [Stellan Skarsgard], a big, roaring bear of a Russian money launderer is looking to defect to the UK. While on holiday in Marrakesh, Perry Makepeace [Ewan McGregor], a college professor, and his barrister girlfriend Gail Perkins [Naomie Harris] meet the charming Dima and his family and are soon involved in events way over their heads, helping them reach safety in London. A cat-and-mouse game begins between Dima and Hector [Damian Lewis], the reserved British intelligence officer assigned to getting proof from Dima of the corrupt dealings between politicians and the Russian mafia. For the couple unwittingly caught up in this matter and unsure who to trust, their survival depends on them learning to keep their personal feelings in check.
Based on the novel by John Le Carre, this geo-political thriller has its own Hitchcock moment when the author makes a cameo appearance.
